New Book! Woohoo!

BLOG

My Big Welcome is finally here!

It feels so surreal.

How an experience can form a story and then become a book is a dream come true!

My Big Welcome was inspired by my daughter’s experience.

It all goes back to May 3rd, 2016. The Fort McMurray wildfire.

My family and I were one of the thousands of people that fled the Fort McMurray wildfire.

It was traumatic.

My older daughter was 6 years old at that time and had been enjoying being a big kid in Grade 1. We had so many plans. Swimming lessons,  gymnastics,  ballet classes, and  so much more.

When the fire happened, everything turned upside down.

Our family had to move to the city of Edmonton as we tried to put our lives back together. Since the fire was well known, lots of schools opened their doors to the students that had been displaced.

My daughter was so scared. She was scared of being the new kid at school. She was scared that she would not be accepted.

But all that changed when we stepped into her new classroom. I have never seen such display of kindness and acceptance before!

That story changed a sad story and made it full of hope. This is why I wrote My Big Welcome.

I am so grateful to be able to share this story with the world now.

My Big Welcome is now available!
